Dead Emachine

I have a t2040 emachine with a celeron 2 ghz cpu the machine went dead when i push the power switch the power supply fan starts and the cpu fans runs for 4to 8 sec then turns off ,i can hear the hd running but thats it no lights on the key board and a black screen any one know were to start
