can't access all websites...
I had restored my computer last month, and it was like brand new. The internet worked really fast, I had all my songs in my media player erased, etc.....anyway. After a few days, my internet started acting up again. I restored my computer again, and it worked again for about 3 or 4 days. I have restored my computer about 8-10 times since last month, and now my internet won't even work perfectly for a minute! :'( I get online, and I can't go to all the websites I was usually able to go to. (aim.com....etc.) I type in the address I want to go to and it starts loading INSANELY slow, and in the top blue bar on my browser it says what it usually says when it is able to go to the site, then it gives me the "oops, we can't open 'such and such.com'" I am wondering if anyone can help me...does anyone know what might be wrong with my computer? I'm very sure it's not my internet connection, I have a linksys modem that gives me internet from the main computer in the room next to mine. If anyone has any ideas that will help me be able to go to any website that'd be great......

Re: can't access all websites...
Hi TheNumberTwelve, welcome to itsallPC
![]() You most likely have a virus or spyware infection. Plenty of advice is available for this in the Computer Security, Firewalls, Anti-Virus, and Anti-Spyware Programs board. I would also caution you against excessive use of System Restore, if that is to what you refer. System Restore works for the most part, but even in the absolute best case scenario it’s messy and imprecise. If you find yourself needing to use System Restore more than several times, you need to completely reinstall Windows. Also be aware that restore points can become infected with viruses and spyware, making them a very poor defense against this sort of issue. Ideally, you avoid using it at all, and learn how to use and treat your machine in a way that keeps it running efficiently for longer. |
