Re: clock problems

Have you run Spyware and Anti-Virus Scans?

Use Ad-Aware www.lavasoft.com
and AVG www.avg.com

Both are free and very effective.

Re: clock problems

Why did you stop using AVG?
I have seen so-called "prank" programs before and a few of them would mess around around with the clock.
However, all would cease to function after a reboot.
Have you checked your running processes for anything unusual?
Also, just for the sake of it run a Spyware check with Microsoft anti-spyware.

http://www.microsoft.com/athome/secu...e/default.mspx

In my experience it was the only one out of the three I use that detected the "prank" programs.
Its just an idea but I think its worth a try.
Post back with your findings

Re: clock problems

thanks for trying to help I ran anti spyware and found 5 programs I removed them but the problem persists, I downloaded Ntl netguard as I had avg when the problem started and I thought this may have not been good enough I had been advised not to have two anti virus or spyware programs running together also as for the running process I dont know what all the running programs are and I am afraid of closing any in case I interfere with the running of the computer

Re: clock problems

Is your clock running the Windows Time update?
Double click on the clock, go to Internet Time and see if the box is checked?

Re: clock problems

No problem. Disable the internet time and manually set the clock. Then restart and keep the internet thing disabled and see if the problem persisits.

Re: clock problems

lol. Ok. I know you're probably sick of trying things but have you tries using a 3rd party Internet Time Server?
http://www.pool.ntp.org/zone/europe

Have you considered re-installing Windows.
A bit drastic to fix the clock I know

Re: clock problems

Hi there i have had this problem on my Tosh Laptop. ( pain in the ***) Ok this is what i did.

1 charge laptop to full battery power... No use at all while charging... So do it overnight

2 go into your bios press F2 or del whatever your laptop tells u to press..

3 reset time in bios save and exit boot up

4 change time in Win Xp if needed

5 Try to keep a little charge in your laptop battery.

This happened 2 me because the system clock worked off of the main battery as the motherboard in my Tosh did not have a battery to keep system bios settings. So when i lost all charge the clock went down with it.

Hope this helps a little Loz
