Bootup problems with A8N-SLI deluxe

I have had my motherboard for a while now and ithas worked fine, but the yesterday i put in a new processor, it is the amd X2 4400+. Since ip ut this in the computer hangs on the first screen which is a picture of asus' AI trademark. I also put in a new power supply and graphics card but i put the graphics card and power supply in first and they worked fine, then put the new processor in butsince then it doesnt work with either processor, it just stalls almost every time! sometimes it gets into the bios but no further. Also i am trying to reinstall windows so there is no data on the hard drive. Please help me! I dont know what to do!

Did you update the BIOS before installing the Athlon 64 X2? Bear in mind that the A8N-SLI has been out for a lot longer than the X2, and didn't originally ship with dual core support. Recognition of the Manchester core was introduced in later BIOS revisions.

Re: Bootup problems with A8N-SLI deluxe

Make absolutely sure you got the correct BIOS. There are 4 different A8N models, include A8N-E, A8N-SLI, A8N-SLI Deluxe and A8N-SLI Premium.

It's doubtful this points to a motherboard issue. A BIOS flash shouldn't fail unless the ROM file is corrupt (a floppy disk could cause this) or you made a mistake. Always always check your floppy disks prior to a flash with the command chkdsk a: /r. If there are any bad sectors at all, throw it away.

Re: Bootup problems with A8N-SLI deluxe

Im positive thati have the rightbios, but there was a problem with the floppy disk at first it wouldnt read fromit toupdate, so i used a different one and it worked fine. I got a bit further this morning, it started reinstalling windows but made no progress in installing, then a BSOD(Blue Screen Of Death) came up and restarted and has frozen again. It appears that when i leaveit for a long period of time it works again briefly. Not sure what to do ??? Again thanks for the help
