Add/Remove list??

Hello all, need help again..

How do I get rid of programs from my add remove list if they don't uninstall.. I've had this problem for a while and it's getting on my nerves now..

Is there any solution to this problem or do I have to put up with it??

I am running xp home with service pack 2, any help would be appreciated,

thanks....

Re: Add/Remove list??

You can manually remove entries in Add or Remove Programs by opening up regedit (Start, Run and type regedit), browsing to the key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion\Uninstall

…and removing the offending entry. Note that if you are force to do this, you system wont be in the best way. You’ve either installed a badly designed program at some stage, or the original files of a program have been interfered with. Unfortunately, this will leave file traces and redundant registry keys. This in itself isn’t going to cause any direct harm, but could be a problem for future program installations.

Re: Add/Remove list??

I've just tried that solution but it does not appear in the list..

The installation i'm trying to get rid of is an original doom 3.. It appears in my add remove list in the control panel but I cannot find any sign of it anywhere else. I've even done a search and it still can't find any trace of doom 3.

It's not causing any problems but I just wondered if I can remove it..

Re: Add/Remove list??

You may need to look a little more carefully.

Some entries are represented only by Class IDs, and have the actual install title as a subkey DisplayName.
