Dvd Multi Recorder Failure - Please Help
Hi guys, I recently just purchased a brand new PC. Today I put a CD which had a slight crack into the DVD Drive, upon trying to load the CD, the drive cracked the CD into millions of small pieces. Half the CD was intact but jamming it from opening. I managed to get it out using a knife (hopefully didnt damage anything). The computer detects the drive no problem and the drawer ejects perfectly, but it will read NO CD at all. Im not sure if parts of the smashed CD might be on a laser or something, Im pritty clue-less.
Please advise, MANY THANKS. |

Probably knocked the read write head out of alighnment or still fragments inside the unit. Remove the drive and open it up, hold it upside down give it a shake.
Chances are its a right off though. Drives are cheap enough though, you can pick up a cheap CD/DVD combo for around £25. I used to use cheap disks untill one shattered on me. Try to get hold of disk that are the same speed rating as the drive, never use cheap or damaged disks. |
