ok im on my 2nd build the last one i set up as ide and id like to do sata this time but know nothing about it. how do i set up my hdd and rom an rw as sata. thanks for your time

SATA is very similar to IDE in the way you connect it up, except you don't really have slave and masters.
On your motherboard you will have a number of SATA connections. Just simply run each one of these to the devices such as your hard drives and CD ROM / RW.
