Sata Hard drive problems

Hi hope someone can help.

i have a desktop running two sata hd's and a few times a year i will get the dreaded blue screen and then when i re-boot windows it wont work and keeps on trying to re-boot.

so i installed xp on the secondary hd. which worked fine. but i plug in the corrupt hd and it will not access it in windows, it sees it as a drive but when plugged in simply slows down the system.

i have tryed formatting in dos and windows but still no joy.
this has happened before andd i dont know the problem, its getting expensive buying new hard drives

does anyone have any ideas to help me please

thanks alot

Jon

What is the STOP code for the blue screen?

If you need to stop the PC automatically restarting when it bluescreens, do this:

> hold down the windows logo key, and hit Pause/Break.

> Click on the "Advanced" tab.

> Click on the Startup and Recovery: Settings button.

> Make sure that "Automatically restart" is unchecked.

Next time you have a blue screen, it will hang at the blue screen so you can write down the stop code before you reset.
  • How many times has this happened in total?
  • Have you noticed any patterns whatsoever in the occurrences of the bluescreens or the disk corruption?
  • What's the make and model / vital stats of the PC?
