External HDD problem!

Hi im new to this forum.
I recently bought an external hdd to back up my entire music collection on. The hdd seems to work fine but there is one thing that i dont understand. When I go into my computer and click on its properties it says i have used 21gb of memory but all the music on the hdd only adds up do just over 9gb??? Can anyone explain where the other 12gb's have gone to???
Thanks in advance for any help!
Steve

Re: External HDD problem!

Hi there.

Try this.

Move everything you need off the drive to somewhere on a computer.

Go to My Computer, and find the drive. Right click on the icon and select Format.

When it has finished move the files you need back onto the drive... This should sort it out for you...

Hope this helps.
Tom

Re: External HDD problem!

Try hook it up to a different PC to format it.
