RAID config not recognised by Windows XP

Hi,

I have a few PATA HDDs that are installed and set up in RAID configuration (RAID 0/1) through the RAID utility at the start (Ctrl H). Amazingly, Windows explorer, nor the System Disk Manager see them!

Why ?

Hi there.

Have you just fit the HDD's?

If so you could try going to the HDD's manufacturer's website and download a formatting tool. This could solve your problem. Hope this helps

Re: RAID config not recognised by Windows XP

You will need to install a driver for the RAID controller, if you haven't.

For some reason, despite the fact that there are posts throughout the board asking, you've decided not to give us any information about your system or what actions you've taken.

Nope, just a brief message. It's a good thing we have a magic hat, from which we can pull the answer to your question without any useful information at all.

Re: RAID config not recognised by Windows XP

It's sorted now. That was a problem with the driver I think...

So the BIOS RAID utility could see the drives but not the disk manager. When I reinstalled the driver a few times, in the end I could see these drives through a utility under Windows and then in the Drive manager.

I did not put any detail of my system because I have encountered this problem twice before with different mobos, CPUs and HDDs... So I thought it wasn't really relevant.

But thanks !

If you don't understand the problem itself, how can decide know what's relevant or not?
