Hi,

I recently got invaded by what i believe to be winfixer. Norton sorted 'most' of it out but its still throwing up warnings saying 'dialer.generic' is attempting to dial out every ten minutes. getting the Malicious Software Removal Wizard and other such popups coming up. I've read through a lot of help pages and also some posts in forums but still scratching my head. Pc is pretty slow. I've run several adware prevention programs but with no joy. My Hijack This log (after i changed the name to fixer.exe - i found out that some viruses recognise the name of hijack this and temporarily hide whilst the program runs) is below......

Thanks for the reply. IS there no other way round it? i've seen on other forums that by removing some of the commands shown in the hijack this log that the prob can be solved. i just dont know which ones!

Maybe you can remove it without a format, but personally I wouldn't, just because i'd prefer to KNOW there are no key loggers or trojans on my computer, rather than just presume it. If you want to know how to remove what you have there, you'd be best off waiting for someone who knows more than me to reply here.

Boot into Safe Mode and run scanning with your Norton Anti Virus once again and delete any found threats. And then post a HijackThis log file again here...
