help with possible virus please ?

I tried installing a program that i downloaded from bearshare file sharing network and strange thigs started to happen. started getting lots of pop ups and a dos box opened up by itself. i ran my norton antivirus and it found 37 at risk files . after it had finished scanning it deleted all but 14 of them which is says are still at risk but how do i get rid of them. Ive tried searching for the file name using the search option but it cant locate the files and they dont appear to be in the location where norton says they are. also when restarting my pc now a dos box appears firstly saying "C:\WINDOWS\System32\ntvdm.exe" then another saying "C:WINDOWS\System32\a.exe" it then displays a message saying " The ntvdm cpu has encountered an illegal operation CSf87 ip:030c op:636f6d7465 and has chosen to close the application"
any ideas on how to resolve this as i am still getting a few pop ups.
thanks in advance

I would also advise you get some spyware protection if you don't already have some.
