Trojan Downloader

Hi All, A regular visitor to my pc, is `TWUNK 001 mtx.ÂÂ! Trojan Downloader. Win32. Being a newbie to the cyberworld is this going to be a frequent visitor, or am I heading for a total format of my system. I`ve removed it three times now with my spyware remover. Cookies I can cope with but anything with words like trojan in its name makes my teeth curl, and invites massive hair loss!!!!! Any of you good people can give me a run down on this little beast. Thanx.ÂÂ! Tai

Re: Trojan Downloader

Hi,
It's not a major security or privacy threat so I wouldn't go formatting your system.
You will always need to perform regular scans to keep your system totally clean so get used to it ;D
I usually scan twice a week on both my PCs and I've never had any problems.
I always find spyware but the only way to eliminate it is with regualr scanning.

To reduce the occurance of spyware on your system I would use Firefox instaed of Internet Explorer.
I have found this helps.
Also, just use common sense when browsing and you should be fine.

Just out of curiosity, what anti-spyware scanner are you currently using?

Re: Trojan Downloader

Hi, I`m using Advanced Spyware Remover, which I find easy to use, quick and direct to the faults. It takes on Spyware, Adware, Malware, Browser Hijackers, Tracking cookies, etc. Also has useful tools to fix the contents of the Registry and System. I`ve been using it for a while now. No mind boggling techno burble in the help section, brilliant for my non- technical approach to the pc!!!ÂÂ! Tai.

Re: Trojan Downloader

Just to be sure download Ad-Aware Personal (its free) and run a scan.
www.lavasoft.com

Post back the results.

I found Advanced Spyware Remover on a list of potentially suspicious anti-spyware programs.
Personally I use ad-aware and spybot-search and destroy.

Re: Trojan Downloader

Hi, I`ll give this Ad adware a run, hope I am not becoming paranoid about viruses, I used to be very indecisive when I was a beginner at the pc game, now I`m not so sure!!!! ;D Thanxs for the advice, Tai.
