USB connecting problem

Guys 'n' Gals,

A month or so ago I tried to plug my USB pen into my PC (XP SP2) to download some photos. The Usb pen said it was being charged but the PC seems to have no inkling that it's connected. I can't force it to pick it up when it can't see anything there at all. I've not been able to connect it to the PC since.

Can anyone suggest what might (not) be happening?

Thanks,all

Hi

Do you hear the sound your computer usually makes when you connect it to your computer?

This sometimes happens if your computer tries to assign a drive to your USB pen that is already assigned to a drive on your computer. One way to solve this is to go into control panel, then go into administrative tools (in performance and maintenance) the Computer Management.
Inside there you will see a section on the left hand side called disk management. If you click on this, you will see a section load on the right that lists all the disk on your computer.
One of them that is listed should be your usb pen, when you right click on this it will give you an option to Change drive letter. If you click on this, you will be able to select a letter to call it; if you set it to something further up the alphabet and click on ok.

With any luck the drive should now appear in My Computer.

I hope this helps, if you have any questions just let me know.

Many Thanks

Leo
