Problems With My Mouse And Keyboard Help!!
Hi everyone,
Im using a desk top computer and have recently bought a new wired Labtec keyboard to use with it but im having lots of problems getting it to work. My old wired Labtec keyboard works fine but some of the keys are now missing and so i bought a new wired labtec keyboard to replace it but when i tried plugging it in i found that the computer itself would stall and would not start up properly (it just gets stuck on the intial Hewlett packard screen) and would not even reach the Windows Xp screen image. I also found that when i plugged the new wired keyboard in and started the computer that my wired mouse stopped working as well. But when i then unplugged the new wired labtec keyboard and plugged back in the old wired labtec keyboard and started the computer again that the mice worked perfectly again and i just wanted some help resolving these problems with the wired keyboard and the wired mouse. Please also note that the new labtec keyboard and the old one do not require any software installations to work and that they are supposed to be plug and play. Many thanks Gordon |

Hi Computwiz,
The operating system i am using is Windows Xp. I noticed something yesterday though which i would appreciate your opinion on. The old Labtec wired keyboard which works successfully has in the plug (not usb) which connects it to the computer 6 silver pins and one black pin that plugs into the back of the computer and the new Labtec wired keyboard has only 5 silver pins and one black pin in its plug and i just wondered if this could have something to do with it not working properly? Could you also tell me if all wired keyboard plugs have six silver pins and one black pin in the plugs they use to connect them to the back of the computer? Many thanks Gordon |
