New game pc around february.

Hi everyone. I want to buy a new computer system around february since thats the date that I think I can buy my own assembled system by then.

Well its should be a really high end pc.

I was thinking about buying the following config.

OS:Windows vista ultrimate 64Bit
Case:Thermaltake full tower. Nice case, quite big and alot of features but apart from that nothing special.
Motherboard:Gigabyte P35 DS5. If someone prefer the X38 then please give a reason.
Powersupply:Antec NeoHE 550wattage.
CPU:Intel core 2 Quad Q9450. Which is a 1333mhz FSB Penryn yorksdale processor which I can already preorder.
Memory: 4x1GB PC8500 Kingston HyperX
GPU:I already got a 8800GTS (640MB) So it would defintely be that card.
2x500GB WD Caviar HDD.
Driveunno, some high end reader and burner.
Audiocard:My old X FI Xtreme gamer from my old pc.

And I will use my old 19inch Dell monitor. And I got a Logitech Gaming mouse and keyboard. If the system doesnt match with some components. Please tell me and what to change. If you guys have better alternatives youd better tell me to.

Furthermore I really want the processor and the GPU, Becose I already got the GPU. And The CPU is a 200quid yorksdale quadcore with 12MB cahce and 2,66ghz clockspeed which is farmost the cheapest yorksdale. And im gonna overclock it. So I dont really need anything better then the Q9450.

I hope you guys coud help me out here. Furthermore I already know where to buy things. Im gonna assemble the system myself. I did that before.

I hope you guys have a bit of good advice. See ya.

There isn't anything to advise you on - you've got a very clear aim as to what PC you're going to build.

My only comment would be that a 19" monitor is below average - what's the point in a high-end system if you don't have the screen real-estate to push the GPU? Seriously, you could stick a 7 series GPU in there. The only reason for the 8 series card would be DX10, and I understand that the next version of DX10 won't be backwards compatible with current DX10 cards.

I'd also counsel against any flavour Vista, but that's because I don't like someone else in charge of my PC.

Yeah i know that. But you might have missed it. but I already have the 8800GTS. So that's why I wont add any other or lower card. I got the card from a friend becose he got it illegal. Still costed me money. Although it was still only 80quid i paid.

But apart from that your absolutely right. And I coud better wait for a 9 serie card or add a 7 serie card instead.

EDIT:Furthermore about vista. It would definetly be vista. Since We got Vista on my parents computer. I hear alot of negative things about the OS. But I havent experienced any or really annoying things. And since it's the newest OS with upcoming SP2 with guarantee for quadcore processing in most games I think I would prefer Vista.

I was rather referring to the display - I feel you should spend the extra £200 and get a decent 22" widescreen display that will really put your card to good use

No no - use the 8800GTS - it's a great card, your display just doesn't let it really show what it can do.

Well that 's all well and good - I didn't criticise Vista for its features. I, personally, would rather not have it because of its associations with trusted computing - it's not in itself DRM infested, but Vista Business and Ultimate are designed from the ground up to allow 3rd parties to decide what you can and can't do with a computer. I like my computer, and I want it to remain my computer. The criticism is that Vista is an enabling technology which will reshape the way people interact with their operating system. While this is not intrinsically a bad thing, I feel that technologies like Trusted Computing and the drift towards subscription software represent a real effort to transfer control over computers from the user to the software provider. I think this is dangerous.

On the other hand, some people don't care too much about that kind of issue, and that's entirely their choice.

Ya, I know that issue. Im talking about vista right now. Wel like I said I experienced Vista on my parent's pc. And I didnt fully operated with the system. I might make a dual boot with xp and vista. Becose I still have a old pc with Windows pro. And I still got the disk with the code. I coud deinstall xp there and install it as a dual boot with vista on my new pc. Ive done that before although not with vista so it shouldnt be a problem.

You are certainly right about everything youve said. But vista still does have some extra features. And Ive already mentioned it. In SP2 4 cores will be optimized in computing. And since im mainly a fan of Flight simulators which means I want to play FSX, that SP2 Feature is a really nice and usefull perk in gaming.

So I might install a dual boot. If vista seems to be good enough in the end. I can always choose to delete xp from the harddrive.

Furthermore about the display: It is not just about buying the 22"

Since I know your right about the fact that I coud better play on a 22" But I also reffered this sentence in my starting post >

I might be able to buy the screen a few months after. Since I really want all the other components or alternatives which Ive choosen myself. So the problem is money. Im sure I would buy a 22" months after.

Btw I do have a alternative for the display. I have a 26" 1080I samsung HDTV on my room. What If im gonna buy a controller and buy a cable to connect the screen to the 8800GTS and play with my controller. It coud be a idea. And the only pruchase is a new controller. Although I might need some advice on what to buy exactly apart from the controller. I definetly need a special VGA/ (Not sure how thats called. The plugins on the back of the 8800GTS are different to VGA) So some kind of VGA/HDMI/SCART Cable.

And how Do I connect this all. And do I need to know how to connect the controller to the pc?

If its a good idea about the display alternative. Please tell me what to do exactly. If someone doesnt have any alternatives on my system assembling. Please help me with my previous questions.

EDIT:

Extra? Have I mentioned something about £200 extra. I wished I had. I just calculated and found out that I should have enough money around february to buy my previous assembled system. I dont see any other way to achieve £200 more around february.
