Smile Build Advice Needed

Hi guys, I will soon purchase a new computer. My first attempt was:

Core 2 Duo e6600 2 x 2.4 GHz
1Gb RAM
80Gb Harddrive
Gefore 7600GT 256Mb
17" TFT
16x DVD writer
Soundcard, wireless netcard, speakers, keyboard

£756 inc VAT and delivery.

I was then given some advice which led me to this spec:

Core 2 Duo e6400 2x2.13GHz
2Gb RAM
80Gb Harddrive
256MB GEFORCE 7900GS
17" TFT
16x DVD WRITER
Soundcard, wireless netcard, speakers, keyboard
£844 inc VAT + Delivery

I will be using the computer for gaming and multimedia applications.

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. Thankyou.

That looks pretty good. Some really important details are missing though; like the motherboard model (by far the most important component in the system) and also the memory type/speed

Try a company called RLXUPPLIES.CO.UK, I got all my stuff and similar spec to yours but i had a few more bits for £605 minus the TFT, but I got my 19" TFT from Aria for £150

Again, the motherboard model is missing

The motherboard is essentially the heart of the system, connecting everything together. The quality of the motherboard decides the limits and stability of the system in addition to the future upgrade options. It is extremely common for sellers to omit the motherboard in affordable builds because they have equipped the system with a cheap and low quality one. Using a cheap motherboard doesn't have an obvious impact on the system's specifications, but can save a large amount of money making the price of the system seem quite competitive compared to a well designed and built system.
