Dual Core Celeron

Anyone know what the dual core Celeron is like? OK I'm not expecting state of the art in your face speed etc but how do they stack up? Would they be ok for a htpc system or should I stick with a core2?

Tom has a little shameless behaviour in the past
This is the first i've heard of it...

If your looking for a cheapish dual core CPU i'd probably show you the Pentium D dual core... I haven't had one of those either, its just not a Celeron.

Are you talking about the Celeron E1200?

There's an interesting story here about it - the conclusion seems to be "NOT for gaming".

Quote:
At the same time, the new dual-core Celeron E1200 can find its niche. For example, when overclocked these processors cope very well with video and audio encoding and pretty well with rendering. That is why dual-core Celeron processors from the E1000 series can be used in a much broader range of tasks, while their predecessors could fit only for office and simple home systems.
Bold mine.

Expect the price to drop later too.
