AMD/Intel Performance Comparison
I run an AMD processor however, pretty much all can system reqs are listed as Intel processors. I have heard that many AMD processors perform better than Intel processors with the same advertised hz.
I have a AMD 1.2gz processor (Yeah I know it sucks) Can anyone please give my a rough idea as to what Intel processor this processor equivalent to? Many thanks |

Depends on what you are looking for mate, The Intel Core2Duo Pro Q6600 with it's 2.40GHz clock speed is fairly good. Depending on what board you get, you can take that CPU clock speed up to x.00GHz amount with some cooling aswell.
I would get the EVGA nForce 680i SLi (Socket 775) board, That is an awesome board, really high overclocking portential. Or there is the Abit IN9 32X-MAX WiFi nForce 680 board which holds DDR2, Overall that is pritty good but not the best compered to the one i speced aboe. I would get the 4gig RAM cards now saving you having to change them at a later date when it needs it. If you got two pairs of the Crucial Ballistix 2GB that should be fine. Crucial Ballistix 2GB (2x1GB) DDR2 PC2-8500C5 1066MHz Dual Channel Kit (BL2KIT12864AA1065) That is the RAM spec i am talking about Hope this helps Computer :P

Okay if you want to put it that way, if anyone buys the Intel Core 2 Quad Extreme Edition QX6850 they are pretty stupid. LOOK AT THE PRICE OF THE THING. What just because it says Extreme it has to be so much freaking money? weirdo Intel if you ask me.

Multiplier on the QX6850 goes up to 9, but i do agree that it's not very good value for money :-P
They decreased it from the QX6800's 11x Multiplier :-s R

When you first start your PC, you should see a black screen that tells you how much RAM is attached to the system and your processor type. For example, an old machine of mine running an Athlon had 1GB of RAM and an Athlon XP 2500+, which compared favourable with 2.5GHz Pentiums. |

Well. AMD and Intel were very much compared to each other. Im talking about the past right now. But AMD really screwed up things in the era of the double core cpu's. Just becose the core 2 duo's were better. Not even much better. But more customer friendly. Since You can overclock much better with the intel cpu's. Furthermore intel has much better processor technology added.
I think If AMD would advertise their products like Intel does I think they would sell alot more of their processors. But they don't. Intel really overtaked AMD miles beyond AMD. And I doubt AMD would ever catch up. On the other side. Since there are alot of amd fans and alot of machines which only support amd processor and since AMD have their own advantages they do sell alot of CPU's to other subgroups. Other customers and all. That's why they will never get bankruptcy. But Intel is without any doubt the better choice. |
