Im currently looking to buy a new laptop, as a student im on a tight budget and want decent performance for my money. AMD i no are generally cheaper but ive got several laptops i am considering. I am wanting to know if anyone has any idea which processor type i should go for? All i will really use it for is surfing the web, office applications, photo editing and the occasionlly web design and flash work. Any ideas on which i should choose?

The Intel Celeron D 2.8Ghz & the AMD Sempron 3000+ are most probably the likeliest of options, around £55 they are superb if you have a tightish budget yet want performance! ;D

It depends on which model really. There are different flavors of each. Sempron's can be Socket A, or S754 32-bit, or S754 64-bit. I don't know the different kinds of Celeron's but I know there's more than one. Did you have any particular laptops in mind?
