power supply jack

Greatings;
Hi, I have hp pavillion xf 125 laptop. this is 7 years old and i dont have any problem besides this power supply jack. When I press or push either up or down then hold by pushing, the laptop will charge the battery. Since my understanding was the loose contact, I decided to took out all screws. But then i could not open the whole thing it seems the jack side is hard to be apart or separate. Since I'm scared it might break the base, I stop the disassembling and put all the screws. My question is, is it really the loose contact? can i force to separate or dis assemble the laptop so i could check if theres a loose contact? which I'm positive thats the cause of not charging the battery.
I just tried and tried with careful not to break, but its really hard to separate. I love this computer because I already used to it, and theres a programs thats very important to me that comes with the windows. Thanks for your help.
