Modular PSUs, P8 ready?

Does anyone know of a modular PSU that is P8 ready, available in the UK? There's an Enermax 1, and a Hiper 1, but i'm not sure if the Hiper 1 is actually out yet? any ideas on when it's released?

Cheers,

Roz

Re: Modular PSUs, P8 ready?

As I understand it, "P8 ready" was how PSU manufacturers indicated that their product would support Intel Core 2 processors, before it was officially named Core 2. Just like "Prescott Ready" it's a gimmick and means nothing - perhaps less than nothing. Prescott Ready was slapped on pretty much any product that met Intel's very relaxed standards, whether it would explode under load or not.

Any PSU that supports ATX12V 2.0 (24-pin + 4-pin) will likely do the trick, unless the motherboard requires EPS12V (24-pin + 8-pin). P8 has no special power requirement, if anything it is more relaxed.

Re: Modular PSUs, P8 ready?

Then it doesn't need to be "P8 ready", it just needs to be a EPS12V+, as has been used in Xeons, Opterons and good Pentium D.

Since EPS12V is an actual standard, where as P8 ready is not, you will have better trying to find modular PSUs supporting ATX 2.x (2.2 would be best, but 2.03 would be okay) and EPS12V; this happens to be pretty much all of them. Trying to hunt down PSUs that especially claim P8 readiness will slim down you options significantly.
