Wireless connection problems

Hi, i have a wireless connection in a victorian town house, because the walls are so thick I have had to put access points around the house. There is one on the ground floor next to the router (the routers arieals broke of, so I have turned the wifi on this off) there is another access point in the basement, and another on the 2nd floor.

Im having problems with the wifi, as they will not let me log onto the wifi, and just gives me an error message and asks me to diagnose the problem, but does not give any useful information on how to fix the problem.

Ive heard that if the access points are too close then I will have problems, but they are just close enough that i have signal any where in the 5 story town house, so I cannot move them any more.

All the cable is below 100 meters, so that should be a problem.

I have found that the wireless will only work when I reboot the access points, but it has become worse and I have to reboot them sometimes twice a day.

The hardware I am using is:
Netgear super wireless router DG834GT
Netgear 54mps wireless access point WG602 v3/4
The cat 5 cable was made up by a friend and has all been tested
