Forget about how many ghz you can get it to, you first need to think about your cooling solution, If u can overclock it to 3.5ghz which i'm sure u can then u will need a very good heatsink,fan and thermal paste. If these are of poor quality then your processor will overheat and be damaged, The hotter it gets the more damage is done.

And to be honest i wudent go with AMD at the min, they do have problems Intel will be better if your looking for speed even though they are a little more expencive but only a little.
