Re: Fitted new Motherboard-now will not boot.

Mornin Pete. I am sure one of the techies can give you a full detailed response as to why the reformat/ re-install is needed, all I can tell you is that I have just (2 days ago) changed mobo myself, and had exact same thing happen with my machine before re-install. With the mobo being the integral component which all other hardware communicates through, in real terms you have not replaced a component but have built a new computer using parts from your old machine.
If you have tested the HD in another computer I would suggest slaving your HD in this other machine to save any important software you have, then when you do come to reformat your drive, partition it, install Windows onto the first partition and save your valuable stuff onto the new partition, (by slaving other HD onto your machine). I know this sounds really long - winded, but it also brings to the fore the importance of backing up your system regularly. By doing it this way, if ever you need to re-install again, all your software will remain intact and unaltered by the re-install.

Hope I have been of some help.

Dave
