There are some interesting mini-ITX solutions, including the DFI G5M100-N, which takes Banias core Pentium Ms.
The C3 is not very powerful at all; at 1 GHz it is roughly the same performance as a Pentium III 733 MHz. I've yet to see a mini-ITX motherboard with anything other than a PCI slot, which leaves you with the ol' GeForce FX 5200/Radeon 9200 quagmire.
I have had limited success myself, running an FX 5200, as you're aware...
