no sound from onboard or sound card... plz help!
[size=12px]okay. my onboard sound on my gf's dell dimension 4600 (running windows xp home w/SP2) went out a while ago. not sure what caused the problem, but i reinstalled the onboard sound drivers and it didn't fix the problem. device manager shows no problems with the onboard sound (this device is working properly). thinking the onboard sound might of fried, we tried a sound blaster live pci card (model CT4760), downloaded the latest drivers, uninstalled onboard drivers, disabled the onboard sound (through both device manager and BIOS), and that didn't fix the problem either. device manager shows no problems with the sound card either. also, when i open "Sound and Audio Devices" from control panel everything is greyed out. i've tried just about everything in the book, and i can't seem to fix this problem. somebody please help. thanks![/size]
